ARTIST WYATT MILLS

  • The Unveiling
  • Invanity
  • The Necessities, The Ordinariness, and The Dream

Wyatt Mills a Los Angeles born, New York based artist began painting not for the love of the practice, but for the romance of a woman. The woman soon became an after thought as Mills was consumed with his work. Heavily influenced by both painting and photography, he looked to Diane Arbus and Egon Schiele for their portrayal of the human figure as subject matter. As he studied at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, he honed his execution and thought provoking subject matter. Confrontation and first person environments are common within his work. His pieces bring viewers into another mindset, allowing them to contemplate and debate with an inner dialogue about what social boundaries they find to be hideous, captivating, offensive or attractive, in hopes that it will allow the viewers to walk away with a loss of social reservation and expansion of their own mindset.

Few Exploratorium exhibits emerge from the shop in their final form. Most evolve, as honest and direct as Frank Oppenheimer, shaped by the exhibit developer and the visitors.
